EIGHTH GRADE: During this week, the students will work on developing the following fundamental skills of BASKETBALL: passing, dribbling, blocking, and shooting. Students will put this knowledge to test in games. During the week, the students will also have a circuit fitness test.
Required Materials for Class: Tennis shoes, water bottle and appropriate clothing.
Optional Materials for Class: Bug spray, hat and sunscreen.
|PLEASE TAKE NOTE: To participate in class activities and receive full credit for the class, students need to wear appropriate clothing for P.E. class.
|GOALS: We will use the word RESPECT to set the main goals for the year.

|REMINDER: I would like to remind you that all students need to be dressed appropriately for the days that they have P.E. class. Students should refrain from using the following:
– Dresses for the girls
– Jeans (shorts or pants)
Candy, food, and/or gum – out of sight, out of mind!
Remain in supervised areas all the time!
Guitar students will work on different strumming patters. See the following video as a tutorial for 5 new rhythms:
Piano students will work individually in their corresponding songs.
Beginners: Beethoven Fifth
Intermediate: Each student in their own song
Students will learn to arrange drawing panels, insert call-outs and dialogues. Create a coherent story sequence and draw emotions by creating a comic strip.

On this week, the 8th graders will be in the process of starting their first book of the year: Jacob, Have I Loved. It’s about sibling rivalry, set on an east coast outer bank island during WWII. In order for the students to get a better understanding of the novel, before they begin reading students will explore what sibling rivalry is, many famous examples of it, birth order, parents choosing favorites and positive/negative outcomes due to sibling rivalry.
Lunes 21 y martes 22: Estudiaremos La fábula .
Miércoles 23 deberán llevar el libro porque seguiremos con la lectura del Popol Vuh.
Jueves 24: trabajarán en ortografía por lo que llevarán su libro.
